Folks new to meditation are welcome.  We encourage you to contact us early so we can discuss sitting, provide some references, and discuss the process so you will feel comfortable with the rewarding but unfamiliar tradition of meditation.

As a prelude to our discussion, we usually read a section of a book. For those who what their own copy of the book (by no means nessarry or required), here are references and links to popular booksellers.

Our current reading is choosen by one of us and read to the group. We experiment with different styles ranging from readings each week to finish a book, to themes where an individual finds a reading they find relevant.

In the past we have read a variety of books:

Pema Chodren

Geri Larkin

Sylvia Boorstein

"being zen, Bringing Meditation to Life" by Ezra Bayda, Shambala, 2002 ISBN 1-59030-013-0
It is available at Amazon here and has been found in stock at Borders and Barns & Noble

"Lovingkindness, The Revolutionary Art of Happiness" by Sharon Salzberg, Shambala, 1995 ISBN 1-57062-176-4
It, too is widely available at Amazon, Borders, and Barns and Noble
